Zapino Lithium Battery Update

I just talked to Bob in customer service at Zap. He said that they are testing Lithium (Li-ion) batteries for the Zapino scooter right now and that they should be ready in 4 to 6 months. The cost will be between $1,500 and $2,000 and will include the batteries and charger, but no battery management system (BMS).

So for now, the best option will probably be to use Thunder Sky batteries from Elite Power. They have a package of 20-40Ah batteries and charger for $1600 that should work well in the Zapino. While half the weight of the current lead-acid battery pack, they are a 1/2 inch higher so there might be some rework needed to fit them in.
