Hap Jacobs Surfboard

Surboards are a lot like your wife dressing up for a winter evening party: she will put on a beautiful dress and look really good but then wrap herself up in a coat so you never see the dress anyways. Surfboards are the same because you put a layer of wax on top, and then can’t see it again.

WoodyW loaned me this beautiful Hap Jacobsen surfboard and it needed new wax. So after I took the old wax off, I took some pictures of it before I re-waxed it. Isn’t it beautiful?

Hi Since the jacobs post is so old, I don’t know if you will see this. But here is my question. Does your friend woody w know when his board # 2038 was made? My Brother just bought a used Jacobs in Santa Cruz, Ca # l995. Both have Hap Jacobs decal. # 1995 is also signed Hap Jacobs on the Stringer. Just in case that is important. I emailed jacobs/bing in Gardena, Ca. But no reply. Maybe too busy. If he knows, I would appreciate the info Thanks Mike Mid 60’ Surfer. South Bay Beaches

Hi Mike. It is my impression that Woody bought the board sometime around 2000, but I will ask him next time I see him. —Max
