Things I Liked About This Cruise

We all had a really great time on this cruise—it was our best vacation yet. Here are the things I really liked about it, and a few that could have been better.

Things I liked about this cruise:

  • Quick check-in (took less than 20 minutes from the time the taxi pulled off until we were on the ship) and check-out
  • Comfortable bed (I kept thinking I was at home)
  • Comfortable pillow (thermal foam)
  • Cafe and kids program right above our room (less of a walk)
  • Smoked salmon for breakfast
  • Sherbets and sorbets
  • Having a great sommelier that recommended good wines
  • Drinking nice wines
  • Our Ocean Liner dinner
  • Having a great waiter (Ogie) that was good with the kids, cut Maxie’s steak and helped us with glutten free dinners and an assistant waiter (Rhandy) that brought us gluten free bread each night
  • Great conversations with our dinner companions: Roger and Tricia, Neale and Maggie
  • Our room steward (Clarence) that was extremely friendly and would nip into our room when we left for breakfast and have it cleaned and ready by the time we got back
  • Tivoli Gardens with Maxie (he was so excited and in a good mood and we talked the whole time)
  • Maxie really liking going into towns
  • Collecting the loose tiles in the pool with Claire
  • Visiting the Hermitage
  • Seeing Eugene and Luba in St. Petersburg
  • Spending time with Suzanne and holding hands
  • Great kid’s program
  • Good wireless connectivity throughout the ship
  • Sushi bar
  • Ice cream bar

Things that could have been better:

  • Internet connection was slow and way too expensive ($45/hour)
  • Wasn’t much food or desserts at night (only salad and pasta)
  • Sushi bar and ice cream bar closed too early
  • Tour excursion desk wasn’t open very much
  • Needed more active tours (bicycling, kayaking, windsurfing) rather than just site-seeing tours
  • Room was a little too small (hard to get to the balcony when the sofa-bed was out, and the closet doors impeded the bathroom doors
  • Normal pool closed too early (we like to go to the jacuzzi with the kids at night)
  • Dinner table was not by a window
