Workman Camping 2006

Last weekend, the Workman’s organized a camping up in the Santa Cruz mountains and we went along with the Cousins, Ferraris, Petersons and some other friends. I wasn’t expecting much out of it, no actually I was expecting it to be a pretty boring and uncomfortable time. However, I was surprised that it was actually kind of fun and, as I told Gary, didn’t “totally suck”. I especially had fun on all the hikes.
Maxie: I like to explore a lot, there are a lot of trails, and food and drinks and stuff. I itched a lot when I got home from mosquito bites. I liked sleeping in the car better than the tent. The fun things I did were: play games with the other kids, sleep, play Mahjong.
Claire At First: Its not that good. Because it is not that fun, especially when it is dark. No-one playing with me.
Claire Later: My favorite thing to do was when we went on the long hike so we went like curving a lot and it was really hard to hike but it was fun to get to the top. I also liked playing in the creek with just my socks on. The sand felt good on my feet. I would like to go camping again because it was really fun and hard.
Suzanne First Day: Our tent needs silent zippers. The road wasn’t bad, I actually did okay because Max drove at a snails pace. I slept reasonably well until Maxie started opening and closing the door. And one time Claire screamed at night, but she was just dreaming. The fire feels good. It is awfully dark in the woods at night
Suzanne Second Day: It was fun. It was an adventure. The food was even good. The weather at night was good. The mosquitoes at night were bad, I got 11 bites. The company was fun. And I didn’t hear very many “Mommy I am bored.” Overall I thought it was a lot of fun and it was the best camping trip I have ever been on (although I haven’t been on many).
